Keto Shepherd’s Pie

All the cozy, savory flavors of a classic shepherd’s pie, but with a creamy mashed cauliflower topping instead of potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cauliflower Mash:
    • 1 head cauliflower, steamed
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • ¼ cup heavy cream
    • ½ cup shredded cheese
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion and mushrooms until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Blend cauliflower, butter, cream, cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Transfer meat mixture to a baking dish, spread cauliflower mash on top, and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Broil for 3 minutes for a golden crust. Serve hot
