All the cozy, savory flavors of a classic shepherd’s pie, but with a creamy mashed cauliflower topping instead of potatoes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
- ½ cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cauliflower Mash:
- 1 head cauliflower, steamed
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup shredded cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion and mushrooms until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Blend cauliflower, butter, cream, cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Transfer meat mixture to a baking dish, spread cauliflower mash on top, and bake for 15 minutes.
- Broil for 3 minutes for a golden crust. Serve hot
